Viva Tatawaqa

Viva is a management collective member of Diverse Voices and Action for Equality, in Fiji. She is a young Pacific LBT community facilitator and mobiliser and has been recently working on the Conference team at, ‘Pacific Partnerships to Strengthen Gender, Pacific Youth Development Framework, Climate Change Responses and Sustainable Development, a regional initiative including both state and non-state actors, with a focus on gender equality, human rights, climate change and sustainable development. Viva has also participated in the work of the Fiji Young Women’s Forum, Review Beijing+20 Young Women’s Group, CSW Pacific young women’s group member and coordinated a community workshop for LBT young women on elections and democratisation, also a workshop on Raising Awareness on STOP PACER PLUS campaign and is part of a new youth theatre arts collective in Fiji.She is also active is the Pacific Feminist SRHR Coalition,SRHR LGBTI PEER Support Group Focal point including a focus on creating safe spaces for LGBTI community to have open conversation about challenges they go through in life, issues of discrimination, violence, economic and climate injustice and poor supporting systems from health, education and security services for them and sexual rights, HIV and AIDS, and with a specific interest in the human rights of Pacific and SIDS lesbian, bisexual and trans women and girls.Fighting against injustices and discriminations of all sorts has always been Viva’s challenge, and being part of DIVA for Equality Organisation work at national and regional levels has been very empowering in her own personal life and growth since 2011.
What brings me pleasure:
Proper 8 hours of sleep , sharing meals with my kids now that i have 3 and a moment in a day when i can have my room to myself 😉
