Alya El Marakby

Alya El Marakby is the Campaigns and Communications Coordinator at RESURJ. She graduated with a degree in Anthropology in 2018 and has a variety of intellectual interests, including history, political economy, philosophy, feminism, behavioral and organizational psychology, public health and medical humanities. 

Alya’s work experience includes researching environmental justice issues in Egypt and the region, co-editing a book on the political ecology of water issues, and contributing to an oral history exhibition project about women and labor in the Middle East.

She is also a skilled writer, editor, and project manager, with a talent for creative copywriting, which she spent the last two years doing during her tenure at a creative agency based in Cairo. 

Alya has a deep appreciation for the value of interdisciplinary approaches to complex world problems and is driven to create impact in the different worlds she inhabits. 

What gives me pleasure: 

Reading, experimenting in the kitchen, taking walks, hiking in nature, watching comedy shows, getting manicures and pedicures, eating ice-cream, traveling, and spending time with people who feel like home.
