RESURJ is a collective of younger South feminists, with members transitioning out when they turn 40 to make space for new voices to carry our collective mission and vision forward. These transitions are always bittersweet to us—while we celebrate new members joining, we also say goodbye to those who have co-shaped RESURJ in profoundly radical ways.
This year, we say a huge and emotional thank you to Oriana López Uribe from Mexico and Mirta (Michi) Moragas from Paraguay, who are transitioning out of the collective.

Oriana has been with RESURJ since 2012—more than a decade of fierce, radical, and unwavering commitment to sexual and reproductive justice. She has brought brilliance, joy, and fire to our collective, pushing boundaries, challenging our ways of thinking and organizing, and reminding us that feminist organizing must be rooted in pleasure, real care for one another, and audacity. Orianita, we cannot put into words how much you’ve shaped this space. We love you endlessly.

Michi joined RESURJ in 2019, and in these years, she has been a force—sharp, strategic, and deeply committed to justice and ending discrimination. Her presence, candor, and relentless advocacy for challenging criminalization and adopting feminist legal strategies have left an indelible mark on RESURJ’s Beyond Criminalization Thought Leadership. Michi, you have been an inspiration to us and you have kept us afloat when we needed a push to keep resisting in contexts that are adverse. We have learned from you so much and we will miss you so much.
While we say farewell to these two incredible feminists, whom we’ll continue to rub shoulders with as Friends of Resurj, we are also thrilled to formally welcome three new members from Mozambique, Lebanon and Mexico who are bringing fresh energy and perspectives to our collective.

Now, she works nationally and internationally to advance sexual and reproductive rights, comprehensive sexuality education and youth participation. She is especially passionate about ensuring adolescents have the tools to embrace their sexualities with pleasure and autonomy.
Finds joy in: yoga, hiking, baking, deep chats over coffee, the smell of rain, and her dogs.
These transitions mark an important moment for our collective—one of gratitude for those who have built and shaped this space, and excitement for those who will keep on roaring. Leadership transitions are the constant change in our feminist movements, challenging us to grow, make room, and celebrate each other as we arrive, contribute, and transition out of spaces.
With love, RESURJ
