Governments must guarantee the sexual and reproductive health of all women, adolescents and girls, as well as gender diverse people, in the context of the refugee crisis in Ukraine

Of the 2 million refugees who have fled Ukraine in recent weeks, the majority are women, children, and adolescents. Since the invasion began, we have witnessed disturbing reports of threats to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women, girls, and adolescents. In addition, we have seen equally disturbing reports of human trafficking and sexual violence against women fleeing the zones under attack.

We express our deepest solidarity with the people of Ukraine as well as with all those who have been forced to leave the Ukrainian territory. We, along with our allies from more than fifty organizations call on governments hosting refugees to guarantee the sexual and reproductive health of all women, adolescents and girls, as well as gender diverse people, in the context of the refugee crisis in Ukraine and its neighboring countries.

This document gathers 58 signatures from a cross-regional group of civil society organizations, who urge States to ensure the sexual and reproductive health and rights of those seeking refuge, as well as the safety and integrity of human rights defenders working with refugees leaving Ukraine
