RESURJ and The YP Foundation’s first Asia Advocacy in Practise (AiP) training took place from April 9-11, 2012 in New Delhi. RESURJ felt that it was important for young women in their countries and regions to explain to others that they work with what UN processes are and how they can be used in their own advocacy work in country. The YP Foundation (TYPF) has always believed in empowering young people from their own local communities in understanding policy processes so that they can advocate for systemic and structural changes with their own governments. Needless to say, a happy partnership between both groups.
This training intended to bring together a cohort of young people who are already actively engaging with their peers and governments at local levels in their own countries, to advocate for strong commitments from Asia governments to ensure young people’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health (SRRH).
This is especially critical in the political context of UN processes such as the Commission on Population and Development (CPD), the 2013 ESCAP meeting, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and preparations for ICPD @20.
