Umba Zalira

Umba Zalira is the Co-Founder of Growing Ambitions, an all young women led non-profit feminist organization that supports movement building, career guidance and provides comprehensive mentorship to vulnerable girls and young women in the peri-urban areas of Lilongwe. She is a 2014-15 Global Health Corps alumna, a member of the Women Deliver Young Leaders program and a member of the Young African Feminists Dialogue. Umba has over seven years’ experience working in the Malawian non-profit sector with a passion for women’s rights with a specific focus on sexual reproductive health for girls and young women. She is currently working with Theatre for a Change as a Senior Manager.
What brings me pleasure:
Movement of the body as a form of exercise or fun brings me joy, I love the rush after a good outdoor workout, sunbathing, looking at trees and experimenting with recipes in my little kitchen.
