Chantal Umuhoza is a Pan-Africanist, Feminist activist based in Rwanda and a member of RESURJ since 2016. She holds a Masters in Human Rights, Gender and Conflict Studies/Social Justice Perspectives (SJP) from the International Institute of social studies in the Netherlands in 2013/2014 and a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

She has over 15 years’ experience working with different civil society organizations at different at different levels with expertise in sexual and reproductive justice, economic justice, feminist leadership, movement building, knowledge production, writing, policy design, implementation and advocacy. Her work at regional and global levels includes meaningful participation and policy influence at AU processes, UN Commission on Population and Development, UN Commission on the status of women, UN Human Rights Council. She is engaged with Sustainable development Goals processes at national level, at the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development and the High Level political Forum.

She is a member of different networks and groups that advance justice for all including Young African Feminists Dialogues (YAFD) , African Women’s Rights collective (AWRC), Women’s’ Global network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), African women’s communication network (FEMNET), African Coalition for access to safe abortion (ACSA).

What brings me pleasure:

A quiet night by myself, loud laughter of my child, intimacy, cooking for myself, friends and family,  sleeping with a clear mind and without an alarm clock on.
